  2. Homework 04/17/10

     Adonis10:

    1. Presentations are on Monday! Be ready.
    2. Also, please put 12 quotes from your story on your blog. For each one, explain why you chose it (why is it important?).

    Line 1

“You look pretty strong. Are you pretty strong?”  Said Phil

This quote is connecting to the real world because people being fake my asking people question. This quote is also a kind of diplomacy to make the guys feeling stronger to ready to fight against the Inner Horner.

    Line 2

“Tax time, Tax time,” said Phil. “and don’t even think of grabbing Leon’s ha.

This quote shows that Phil was very curious about the tax the Robots, and also shows that the Robots were acting like a real human being. I think that because in the real life especially in America the government requiring for people to pay tax.

    Line 3

“Freeda I appreciate your input,” said Phil.

This quote shows we have moral dilemma everywhere even that Robots have a felling to love people that this on their enemies site. Even Phil is host character in the story for Inner Hornerites. But he was able to have sentimental feeling for a woman from the opposite site.

    Line 4

“I guess we were wrong when we thought they had no additional assets,” Phil said

This quote shows that Phil try to convince his apache have drupe the bomb. He try to do diplomacy with them, by let them think that Freeda was an additional person, who different compare the rest Horner.

    Line 5

“Leaving me? Is Phil? Are you all leaving me? Is Phil now the president? Is that what you boys are saying?”

I chose this line because it sounds confusing cause, its all questions. But I realize those questions was a kind of joke that the smiley Advisor by making to the former president Phil. I also think that the dog robot was the advisor, which is Freeda.

    Line 6

“Large, Large, Large, Beloved Land (If Not the Best, Why So Very Dominant?)”

This quote proves that the Outer Honerites was very proud of their land, because Inner wants to approach on their land. And they were richer than the other sign. The connection that I have from this line is related to the Rich poor Divide or the real world.

    Line 7

“MAN REGARD STRANGERS, EXPECTS ANSWEAR!” said the third little man.

This quote show that in live if you acting bad, you will became miserable so it’s the meaning of life. What I man by that it’s the situation of the former president Phil which was a host character of the story.

    Line 8

“NEW PRESIDENT VOWS TO ELIMINATE BORDER THREAT!” shouted the first man

This quote proves that the new president was more reasonable than previews president. Therefore the press was of the town supported this government might able to help the Inner Honerites.

    Line 9

Someone is saying some rather loud and interesting things from Outer Horner, concerning a new President.”

This quote shows that the new President Rick was very care about the Outer Horner, which is different with the former President Phil which was care mostly about him. Rick acting like a democratic government and Phil was acting like dictator president in his government.

    Line 10

“We could Suffer, exactly”, said President Rick. “On the other hand,” said the first Daughter, if these people are as bad dale says, they could some here next.”

This quote shows that the family of the president made an especial debate by the way the saw the country was going on. The president thinks that by giving to much freedom to Inner Horner can be very fatal. His 1st daughter mentioned if the Outer Horner destroys their land they will leave their land our land no matter what.

    Line 11

“To be unable to distinguish a jail from a peace-Encouraging Enclosure. Safe inside the peace-encouraging Enclosure, you will be protected from your innate violent tendencies and we will be protected from you. It is a real win/win.”

This quote explains that Phil was very curious about the way Rick govern the town, because He believe that the inner have too much power. He had done some protection because from the Innate violent and the same support it. That means that he wants the Inner to win because he lost is presidency.

    Line 12

“ANXIOUS NATION AWAITS PRESIDENTIAL STATEMENT!” shouted the third.

This quote means that the way the way president govern is country is very important, therefore we seen some country are more happy than others. This happened a lot on the real life because corruption it’s thing that that makes a lot of countries unsuccessful.

What outcome did your group pick for this week?

The name of my story is The Brief and Frightening Reign of Phil.

In one at least two paragraphs, explain how the outcome is related to your story.

Remember, this is a big part of how your individual outcome will be assessed and determined.

Sociological imagination is the ability or the capacity to discern the relationship between large-scale social forces and the actions of individuals. This is connect to my story by the conflict between the Inner Horner and the Outer Horner. It’s because all of this was the antagonist of the story which is Phil the president of Outer honor. Phil forced the inner to pay taxes on their land. This actually related to the Bronx society base on experience that we front in this country. However the Story is an ironic because they all are robots, and still acting like real human.

The “sociological imagination” helps us look at the influence a society has on its individual members. By using the sociological imagination, we can more closely examine trends in history. As a humans we tend this weakness manipulated in order Phil is doing satisfy himself. This ironic look might real cause you might some sensible feeling from the robots like even Phil was charging the Inner honor a lot of taxes on the land because they was his enemies. But you might seen that the robot has the human feeling like fall on love to female from the opposites site. And this repeated a lot on our community.

    adonis10:

Is Wal-Mart good for America? Who in the film would say yes? Who in the film would say no? Why/ Why not?

According to what I learn from the film , Wal-Mart are good for America for a lot of multiple reasons. The movie shows that the Walt-Mart products are so shipper for the Americans community. However some people say that its not good because 80% of the workers are in China, which don’t offer enough job to American, they also protest that they don’t pay the Chinese people enough of money ( 15 cents per hours). I disagree with those people because they take advantages from those Chinese, because the dollars have more value than the Chinese money. The Wal-Mart businessman just acting smarted cause if it was people in America that was the Chinese they will never work for 15 cents of this 21 century, so the take this advantage to giving people in America the chipper prices.

    • The U.N Today.

    • De Klerk policy Condemned at White Rally in Pretoria

    Part 3: Think

    1. Before doing this activity were you aware of any of these events and that they occurred on your birthday?

One of the big thing that was so occurred on my birthday was the February 15 night, to February 16 when Nelson Mandela met the Rev. Jackson on my birthday date, when they used to have some confusion between others when ”The misnomer around the world is that Mandela is free,” Mr. Jackson said. ”That is not true. Mandela is out of jail. He is not free. We must not lower the standards of democracy or expectations for democracy in South Africa.” This was a great day for the South African’s history, because those two guy that change there country violence political problem by making the united black and white people to be together like real brother and sisters.

    2. Is there anything about any of these events that surprises you?

The events that more surprise me on my birthday, the February 16, 1990 when the former president Mr. Bush senior slept aboard Air Force One on Wednesday night in preparation for a 4 A.M. departure to a conference on drug-trafficking in Cartagena, Colombia. Perhaps he got up on the wrong side of the airplane, for in mid-flight, he wandered back and lashed out at the small pool of reporters in the rear cabin. This surprised a lot to see a President of United State of America put himself in this situation to traveled physically with the Air Force to went there has reporter. Another thing President Bush senior

warned reporters aboard Air Force One on the way to Colombia, as he let them know he was angry about news reports on his penchant for secrecy. I believe his most be the only US president that done these. It also looks like for his personal reason to leave white house to Columbia for a drug problems.

    3. Do you have any connections, large or small to any of these events?

The U.N Today was a small events in my birthday times the general assembly that showing some schedule like the special committee on the charter. The commission on trade law, and have some good interesting about release of Nelson Mandela. The UN Today are connected to the Jackson meets Mandela which is a large comparatively event then the UN Today thing even that have some good connection because they are both about United Nations, but the Nelson was better because it was a big revolution that has a big event in the world history.

    4. Do you think that any of these events had an impact, large or small, on your life or those of your family members that you know of?

I think they some of them have a good impact in my life because they are about Nelson Mandela which is one of the best politician in the world. He has a big impact from my life because I use to study his history at school. And also the President Bush senior from the 4 President in Colombia; 3 Andean Leaders and Bush pledge drug cooperation. Bush makes the big because he was the US presidents.

    5. What conclusions can you draw about what your city/town was like on the day you were born based on this newspaper? What other observations can be made?

My city town was all mess up around the world, for example in Europe, Africa, Asia, South and North America, Australia. My observation from those events make me proud of myself which make feeling more stronger than ever to realize my dream, which do something that anyone didn’t do before. I hope that will happened because I from an impact day, I will try to make sure I make myself has a great character that make good events day after day. I believe I can’t do it because I’m in the route already, cause so far I’m doing great at school.

  10. Homework 12/16/09

    adonis10:

    PART 1:

    Go to www.prisonexp.org

    Read until the “Grievances” section.

While reading, you can watch the videos, too. They are helpful for understanding.

    PART 2:

    Answer the discussion questions:

    1. How do you think you would have behaved if you were a prisoner in this situation? Would you have rejected these privileges in order to maintain prisoner solidarity?

If I were a prison in basically in this situation I don’t really know why I would do, because I’m kind of person that don’t like people manipulate me like animal. It’s for the reason I never being selfish, and making stupid stereotypes over others. These is even happened in our school, I mean the all building because some students being discriminated by the other students from the other floor. I wish our school is very friendly respected over others some meaning we are innocent and suffers over others even he don’t really affect me, especially for my feeling. But the others I feel so sorry because they can controlled themselves to have some metrised. Therefore I don’t really know what I should do if I was those prisoners, maybe I would try the fight and they might kill me too. Briefly I might say I answer is unclear.

    2. Most prisoners believed that the subjects selected to be guards were chosen because they were bigger than those who were made prisoners, but actually, there was no difference in the average height of the two groups. What do you think caused this misperception?

The prisoners thought this because, how the guards have this authority they can really kind of feel powerful and always being with their faces up and feel more confident in their self on front of the prisoners. This prove that they prisoners was so scare of the authority. In this situation they feel less with no power and kind of an obligation to have respect for the guards. Therefore they feel unsecured and those kind of people tend to being like bend all the time or on some situations so I think that is why the feel indifferent over the guards so they would anymore options it just to cool down.

    3. Do you see any connections to the readings we have done in class?

Actually, there is connection because as authority the Jews look the Nazis as monsters and they make them bigger to what they really were. The treatment the taste of the power is too much for some people that they tend to be so cruel with other people. Hitler got his power above their imaginations therefore he thought that because he deserve it and he had it then everything he though, said or do was right because he was the authority and he knew what was right. Also, Pozzo was very cruel for me with lucky and lucky as the prisoners obeyed him, as his authority.
